apologies
So basically missing the opening weekends of The Football League and the Premier League was not the best thing when it comes to updating a football blog and therefore this has looked rather empty since the World Cup Final. However, I am back and ready to give you my views on everything football and nothing else. So ashamed of myself that I couldn’t write up on the Blackpool game from Saturday. They truly are living a tangerine dream.
Shakhtar Donetsk are closing in on the signing of Arsenal striker Eduardo. The Gunners have apparently believed to agreed a deal for the Brazilian.
the only reason i’m doing this is because sports journalism is something i would like to go into after i’ve tried my hand at coaching.
never going to happen though is it.
fulham to go oranje?
Martin Jol has apparently agreed on terms to takeover the management at Fulham, ready for the upcoming season. This is all down to Roy Hodgson leaving a huge hole at Craven Cottage by becoming manager of Liverpool, however Jol may be the man to fill that gap and bring the best out of Fulham, saving them from another year or mid-table mediocrity.
Let’s hope so.
You have provided the England team with a sort of physical prowess that it has lacked in recent years, and just remember, even though critics and many fans believe this is the best thing in years. I think its a sad day when an amazing team player retires from the international scene.
Goodbye Emile.

Looking good to be in the England set-up for the years to come. So much potential, think Glen Johnson but with more defensive capabilities.

best transfer of the day - 14 july
DAVID SILVA - Valencia to Manchester City

I actually cannot wait to see Silva running down the wing at Eastlands, he’s going to add some Spanish flair to the side. However, can he make the crucial step in turning Man City into a team working together and not just one that is made up of outstanding individuals?
this world cup has been amazing.
great job south africa. the rainbow nation has provided us with a remarkable world cup, highlighting great talent from stars such as forlan, mueller, ozil and sneijder. bone-trembling goals scored by tevez, van bronckhorst and tshabalala. sensational team performances from spain, germany and ghana. however, overall, the underdogs in uruguay have shown that the world cup has not lost any of its magic, proving upsets can happen with the lads from montevideo finishing ahead of france in the group stages. slovakia knocking out italy in the group stages was an outstanding effort, and even tiny north korea scoring against brazil was an underdog highlight in this tournament.
the knockout rounds provided the frantic unexpectancy that has been associated with world cups gone by. the netherlands shocking brazil with an excellent display of resiliance after going 1-0 down. suarez’s hand of god at the final whistle which caused a whole lot of controversial debates about whether ‘penalty goals’ should be awarded and if suarez should of been banned from the tournament for blatent cheating.
if this world cup can leave another lasting legacy and not just one in south africa, it would be that goal line technology is surely going to have to be introduced after frank lampards goal against germany in the second round. an obvious goal, maybe seven inches over the line and it was still disallowed and it really could of made or broke it for the english. unfortunatley it broke them and they eventually lost the game but such an error cannot and will not happen again in such an important game, which needs the introduction of goal line technology to prevent it.
i do hope that this world cup leaves a legacy on south africa. it showed that even a nation in the poorest continent on earth can host the biggest tournament and make a profit according to FIFA. it’s opened up underprivileged children’s minds and shown them that sport is a medium where everyone is equal and can make something of themselves. a message no truer to a nation than south africa.
spain became the 8th nation to place their name on the trophy and made history.
lets hope that in brazil 2014 we might see a familiar name on that trophy, beginning with an E.
